Infectious Irish Pop – Celtic Thunder: It’s Entertainment (video review)

Celtic ThunderWhat would pop music sound like with an Irish twist?

In 2007, famous Irish songwriter and director Phil Coulter used some of his leprechaun, musical magic and created a touring ensemble of men singing pop with Irish flair.  Many successful tours later, Celtic Thunder still wows audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.

This recording of concert before a live audience is charged with energy from the first note.  The staging and lighting are gorgeous, the fans are, well, fanatical, the dance moves are fun and the music is contagious.
The whole group performs only a handful of titles together at the beginning and end.  The rest of the concert consists mostly of solo work highlighting individual talent.

SO WHAT?

These guys are talented and love their music.  My family enjoyed watching the backstories of each of the performers.  Individually, each is really good; but together they are amazing.  They have a tremendous blend over the reach of their wide open chords.
Caution:  One of the songs, “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown,” has an expletive in the chorus.
